St Cecilia Concerts, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November, 7.30pm in the Alington Hall
The annual St Cecilia Concerts take place this weekend, featuring the Shrewsbury School Symphony and Wind Orchestras, Community and Chapel Choirs and a wonderful programme of classical music including Haydn’s Mass in Time of War, Vivaldi’s 'Summer' from The Four Seasons (featuring soloist Matthew Poon (I U6)) and the first movement of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No 2 in C Minor (soloist Kanei Nishii (Ch 5)).
The concerts are in the Alington Hall on both Saturday and Sunday evenings, with a 7.30pm start time each evening. Attendance is free, but booking is advised via www.ticketsource.co.uk/shrewsburyschool
Christmas Fair, Sunday 25th November, 11am - 4pm in Quod
The Shrewsbury School Parents’ Association first ever Christmas Fair takes place in Quod this Sunday. It will be opened at 11am by Mr and Mrs Winkley and is raising much-needed funds for the Barnabas Community Project Foodbank Plus, which runs the Food Bank in Shrewsbury and other local community projects.
There’ll be lots of stalls selling Christmas gifts for all ages, plus a deli stall, gin-tasting, garlands and Christmas flora, raffle and children’s activities. £5 entry per adult to include a mince pie and mulled wine, plus refreshments for pupils and children.
Junior School Play: Under Milk Wood, Thursday 29th November – Saturday 1st December at 7.30pm in the Ashton Theatre
Tickets are now available for the Junior School Play next week, Dylan Thomas' beloved classic 'Under Milk Wood' - a story of life, love, laughter and loss in a small Welsh coastal town. Suitable for age 7 upwards, the set is enchanting with a miniature village onstage.
Performances are at 7.30pm on Thursday 29th November, Friday 30th November and Saturday 1st December in the Ashton Theatre, with the show lasting (roughly) 1 hour 20 minutes.
