Shrewsbury pupils have achieved outstanding success in the recent British Physics Olympiad competitions, with impressive results across both the Senior and Intermediate Physics Challenges.

Lower Sixth pupils who sat the Senior Physics Challenge online competition delivered exceptional performances, with every participant receiving an award. Congratulations to six pupils who were awarded Gold, placing them in the top 19% of pupils nationally and recognising their strong enthusiasm and aptitude for Physics.

The Gold award winners were:

Kaisei T, Hamish M, Rufus D, Yuta F, Jared G and Oli H.

Fifth Form pupils also performed extremely well in the Intermediate Physics Challenge, a demanding paper that tests a wide range of Physics knowledge and rewards pupils who explore the subject beyond the classroom.

An impressive ten pupils achieved Gold awards, placing them in the top 20% of pupils nationally. The top five performers in the school were:

Hiroto M, Zara W, Jude C, Casper W and Callum D.

Shrewsbury's Head of Physics, Mrs Amy Smiter, said:

"These results reflect both the pupils’ dedication to the subject and the strength of Physics teaching at Shrewsbury.

"The competitions encourage pupils to think creatively and apply their knowledge to challenging problems, making them an excellent opportunity for aspiring physicists to stretch and develop their skills."
