Strong Results for the National Bebras Challenge

Around 300,000 pupils from across the UK took part in this year’s National Bebras Challenge, a competition designed to test and develop pupils’ computational and logical thinking skills through a series of engaging problem-solving questions.
Pupils from Shrewsbury Computer Science department once again performed exceptionally well. The top 10% of participants nationally are awarded Gold, and an impressive 24 Shrewsbury pupils achieved this distinction, reflecting the strength of computational thinking and problem-solving across the cohort.
Yazuaki M (SH, III) achieved the highest score in the Intermediate category, while Tyson L (R, IV) achieved the highest score in the Senior category.
The Bebras Challenge encourages pupils to approach problems logically and creatively, rewarding those who can apply computational thinking to unfamiliar scenarios. The strong results achieved by Shrewsbury pupils highlight both their enthusiasm for Computer Science and their ability to tackle complex challenges with confidence.
Head of Computer Science Paul Kaye said:
“The Bebras Challenge is a wonderful opportunity for pupils to develop the kind of logical thinking and problem-solving skills that sit at the heart of Computer Science.
"We are delighted to see so many pupils engaging so enthusiastically and achieving such strong results. Congratulations to Yazuaki and Tyson for their outstanding performances, and to all pupils who took part.”
