Shrewsbury
Shakespeare Birthplace Trust delivers lecture for U6th English Literature Pupils

We were delighted to welcome Dr Nick Walton back to Shrewsbury for another really enjoyable seminar, this time focused on Shakespeare's "Coriolanus" and "The Tempest”.
This was a timely visit, not only marking Shakespeare week, but also helping to consolidate and develop our U6 English Literature pupils’ knowledge and understanding of their set texts, as they embark upon the final stage of their A Level course.
Nick is the Courses Development Manager of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and is one of our leading scholars of Shakespeare; he brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to any conversations about Shakespeare and his contemporaries.
Yesterday he reminded us that the plays "transcend time, borders and language" as he encouraged students to consider their contemporary significance.
He certainly whetted our appetite for next term's trip to the RSC to see Kenneth Branagh's Prospero, as we go to see "The Tempest" directed by Sir Richard Eyre!

Head of English, Mrs Kristina Leslie
