Shrewsbury School is seeking to appoint an exceptional Deputy Director of Development to work alongside the Director of Development (DoD) to deliver the next phase of growth in one of the most successful, globally active and effective Development Offices within a British Independent School.

The demanding and fast paced position will suit a hard-working, highly motivated and professional individual.  Whether you have a clear aspiration to progress to become a DoD, or you have previous DoD experience to share, this opportunity is an excellent springboard for onward progression or an opportunity to bring your experience to the fore. 

Campaign 2010 – 2020 secured £5m in 10 years for the Shrewsbury School Foundation.  By 2025, Campaign 2020 - 2030 secured double the sum (£20m) in half the time (5 years). The DoD wishes to partner, enable, and grow (with) a skilled and experienced development professional who is committed to fostering exceptional standards of fundraising practice in a fast-paced and demanding environment, with an unwavering commitment to ethical, sincere, professional and long-term relationship-based fundraising activity in an administration which immutably prioritises authenticity, quality, and courtesy.

The successful candidate should be a high performing professional with experience of all development functions within a complex organisation.  Used to working to significant multi-year fundraising campaigns with a track record of soliciting six (or+) figure gifts.  Educational fundraising and international experience, and well as experience of using SQL platforms such as The Raiser’s Edge CRM are desirable. The post offers an exciting opportunity to join a busy and successful team.

Due to the nature of the role, it does not offer standardised working days or hours and will require significant business travel.

Packwood - Minibus Driver

Packwood - Minibus Driver

Part time, term time only 

We are looking to recruit a friendly Minibus Driver to safely collect and drop off pupils to and from School.

The ideal candidate will have a full and clean driving licence, with a minimum of two years driving experience, and will enjoy working in a friendly and pro-active environment.  You will be driving a School minibus and will be responsible for ensuring the minibus is in safe working order, clean and in good condition. 

In addition to a competitive rate of pay, we offer free parking and professional training and development.

An indication of the working hours are Monday to Friday, 6.00am to 8.30am and 5.30pm to 7.30pm (although you will not be required to work on a Wednesday evening).

Swimming Instructor

Permanent, part time, 17 hours per week

Shrewsbury School Swimming Academy strives to deliver the highest possible standards in the teaching of swimming to children aged 4 upwards, through the Swim England teaching plan.

Following the ever-growing success of the Swimming Academy we are looking to appoint a Swimming Instructor who can deliver high standards of teaching.

We would like to hear from you if you:

  • Can deliver high standards of swimming teaching and realise every individual’s true swimming potential.
  • Hold a current Swim England teaching qualification at level 1 or above.
  • Are self-motivated, sympathetic and have an encouraging personality with the ability to make learning fun.
  • Work well in a team, as well as on your own initiative.

If you are passionate about swimming and want to come and join our talented and professional team, providing high quality-swimming lessons within the guidelines of the Swim England teaching plan, we would like to hear from you.

This position is 17 hours per week, working Monday and Wednesday 4.00pm to 6.30pm, Tuesday 4.00pm to 8.00pm, Friday 4.00pm to 7.30pm and Saturday 9.00am to 1.30pm, during term time, plus 6 additional weeks during the school holidays.

Our salaries are based on level of qualification and experience and range from £13.95 per hour for a Level 1 qualification to £17.42 per hour for a Level 2 qualification plus experience/continued CPD.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual that has recently left education or graduated from university. It may suit someone considering entering the teaching profession. The role will offer broad involvement in school life from providing support in the boarding house, assisting in class and extra-curricular activities such as games, music, art, or drama and supporting the administrative staff in the school.

Leisure Assistant

Leisure Assistant

Part-time, 17 hours per week

This is a part-time position working 17 hours per week, during term time plus 6 weeks during school holidays, based on a two-week rota with a mix of days, early evenings and weekends.

Our Leisure Assistants play a really important role in ensuring our pupils and members have a safe and enjoyable time utilising our Cricket Centre, Swimming Pool, Sports Hall, Synthetic Pitches, Golf Simulator, Fitness Suite and Racquets Facilities. 

The role requires excellent attention to detail, an engaging personality and the ability to complete a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). Working within a fun and vibrant environment we are looking for a team player with bags of enthusiasm. You’ll be surrounded by friendly and passionate colleagues working together to create an outstanding experience for our pupils and members.

HR Advisor

Permanent, 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday), 52 Weeks

We are seeking an experienced HR professional to join our growing and vibrant HR team, to assist with the front-line delivery of an effective HR service to our Family of Schools.

Providing generalist HR support on all aspects of the employee lifecycle, this role will also take a lead on recruitment and selection across the family. The HR Advisor will work closely with the other HR Advisor in the team to ensure that all core HR processes and procedures are completed. Both roles report into the HR Manager.

The role requires strong people skills, experience of supporting managers in all aspects of the employee lifecycle, and experience of managing multiple recruitment campaigns. An excellent problem solver, with strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and a CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent HR experience.

You will be joining at a time of growth and change within the HR function as we develop and implement new ways of working across the family of schools.

Whilst the role is based at Shrewsbury School wider support for the Shrewsbury family of schools is required.

Site Warden

Multiple posts available, Permanent

Due to evolving needs in the department, we are recruiting Site Wardens to join our valued team, combining the role of traditional caretaker and site safety. As Site Warden, you will play an important role in ensuring that the School is a safe, inviting, and positive environment for students, staff and visitors. The teams’ duties are varied where one day the team can be providing security patrols around the school site, to providing caretaking duties (parcels, delivering post etc), to assisting with school events and setting up rooms or venues, which will involve some heavy lifting.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • A flexible approach to work with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Good communication skills
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Physically fit – manual handling is a substantial per of this position

Post 1 & 2 – Evening Shift, Term Time Only, £12.69ph - Predominantly evening work but there may be opportunities or requirements to work other times. The actual hours of work will be incorporated into a shift rota, set 12 months in advance. Consisting of 4 shifts on (evenings) and 4 days off accumulating in 34 hours per 8-day rotation, evening shift typically consists of 4pm – 1am. There are also opportunities for overtime.

Post 3 – Full time, 52-week position. The actual hours of work will be incorporated into a shift rota, set 12 months in advance. The hours of work will average between 35 – 40 hours per week, working rolling four day/evening shift patterns, typically 7am – 4pm and 4pm – 1am. There are also plenty of opportunities for overtime. £26,562 - £26,987, depending on hours worked.
