Outdoor Education Graduate Assistant

Outdoor Education Graduate Assistant

Shrewsbury School seeks to appoint a recent graduate or post-graduate to contribute to the School’s Outdoor Education programme.

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver a range of Outdoor Education Activities within the school and assist with school trips and the Duke of Edinburgh programme. They will take responsibility for the management of the stores and inventory and will also contribute to the School’s thriving pastoral and co-curricular programmes. This post would be ideal for someone wishing to gain initial experience in the teaching profession and to gain key skills and knowledge in one of the country’s leading boarding schools.

The post is for a fixed term of one year, with the option of extension by mutual consent. The successful candidate will be accommodated by the School and will also be able to enjoy a programme of continuous professional development.

Outdoor Education at Shrewsbury is a very popular part of the co-curricular programme. All members of the Third Form take part in a range of Outdoor Education activities, with many choosing to continue throughout their time at school. The School runs a highly successful Duke of Edinburgh programme as well as a range of exciting trips, including most recently, climbing and trekking in the Pyrenees and biking in Morocco.

A full induction programme is provided for all new members of staff, in addition to a programme of continuous professional development. All new members of staff are issued with a Microsoft device.

Support Staff

School Nurse - Nights

School Nurse - Nights

Permanent, part time, term time only.

We have an exciting vacancy for a School Nurse to come and join our highly dedicated Nursing team at Shrewsbury School, providing the highest professional medical care to pupils, staff and visitors to the school.

You must be a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with experience in the management of minor illness and injury. It would be advantageous to have a paediatric qualification as well as a special interest in diabetes, asthma, immunisation, sports injury, counselling and health promotion.

You will need to demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and administration skills together with experience of working in a team. You will work independently for the majority of each shift and you need to be able to work confidently, competently and autonomously within your capabilities, knowing when and where to access support and advice.

We can offer a competitive salary and generous benefits package to include free meals while on duty, pension, life insurance, use of the School sports facilities and access to a cycle to work scheme. This is a part time nights position, working 24 hours per fortnight as part of a rolling rota. Shift pattern will include weekdays, weekends.

Leisure Assistant

Leisure Assistant

This is a part-time position working 17 hours per week, during term time plus 6 weeks during school holidays, based on a two-week rota with a mix of days, early evenings and weekends.

Our Leisure Assistants play a really important role in ensuring our pupils and members have a safe and enjoyable time utilising our Cricket Centre, Swimming Pool, Sports Hall, Synthetic Pitches, Golf Simulator, Fitness Suite and Racquets Facilities.

The role requires excellent attention to detail, an engaging personality and the ability to complete a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). Working within a fun and vibrant environment we are looking for a team player with bags of enthusiasm. You’ll be surrounded by friendly and passionate colleagues working together to create an outstanding experience for our pupils and members.

The rate of pay for this role will be £12.81 per hour, and in addition we offer generous benefits including fully funded training and development (including NPLQ and Sports Facilities Customer Service Practices), enhanced holiday entitlement and pension contributions, life insurance, school lunch on shift when the kitchens are operational, free car parking, free use of school facilities when not in use by pupils (library, swimming pool, gym, tennis courts, squash courts) and access to a cycle to work scheme.

Swimming Instructors

Role 1 : Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 8.5 hours per week

Role 2 : Tuesday and Saturday – 8.5 hours per week

Shrewsbury School Swimming Academy strives to deliver the highest possible standards in the teaching of swimming to children aged 4 upwards, through the Swim England teaching plan.

Following the ever-growing success of the Swimming Academy we are looking to appoint a Swimming Instructor who can deliver high standards of teaching.

We would like to hear from you if you:

  • Can deliver high standards of swimming teaching and realise every individual’s true swimming potential.
  • Hold a current Swim England teaching qualification at level 1 or above.
  • Are self-motivated, sympathetic and have an encouraging personality with the ability to make learning fun.
  • Work well in a team, as well as on your own initiative.

If you are passionate about swimming and want to come and join our talented and professional team, providing high quality-swimming lessons within the guidelines of the Swim England teaching plan, we would like to hear from you.

Role 1 - Monday and Wednesday 4.00pm to 6.30pm, Friday 4.00pm to 7.30pm

Role 2 - Tuesday 4.00pm to 8.00pm, Saturday 9.00am to 1.30pm
