Four Shrewsbury pupils took part in first round of the British Mathematical Olympiad this week, an outstanding achievement reflecting both talent and dedication in mathematics.

Zara W achieved a Merit, an extremely impressive result for a pupil in the Fifth Form. Kaisei T was awarded a Distinction and a Silver Medal, placing him among the top 100 mathematicians nationally.

Kaisei has recently participated in the second round of the Olympiad and we await his result.

Congratulations to all pupils involved.

Kaisei T said:

“This is my fourth year doing UKMT challenges and it’s been great to have the opportunity to take part in external Maths challenges at Shrewsbury since Third Form.

“I like how the Olympiad is not really about speed, it is more about analysing your different options and coming up with creative solutions for problems.”
