Shrewsbury’s mathematicians have delivered an outstanding performance at the Maths National Finals earlier this week, achieving their goal of a top-20 finish and placing 15th overall in a highly competitive national field.

The team, Hiro N, Dason T, Zara W and Kaisei T, rose impressively to the challenge, demonstrating precision, confidence and teamwork throughout the day.

Reflecting on the result, Maths teacher Dr Charlie Oakley said:

“The team rose to the challenge brilliantly, tackling a demanding set of questions with confidence and composure. Their performance was exceptional—making only three errors throughout the entire day—which speaks volumes of both their skill and the high standard of the competition they faced.

"Looking ahead, I am hopeful that three team members will have the opportunity to return to the competition next year. With the experience of this year’s final behind them, they are well placed for even greater success in the future.”

This excellent result places Shrewsbury School firmly among the strongest Maths teams in the country and reflects the pupils’ hard work, resilience and academic ambition. Congratulations to all involved on a superb achievement.
