Shrewsbury School Shines at County Championships
Shrewsbury School athletes delivered an outstanding performance at the Shropshire County Schools Championships, held at Telford Athletics Stadium on Saturday 13th June, with a large number of pupils competing across the full range of track and field events.
From sprints and middle-distance races through to jumps and throws, Shrewsbury pupils were well represented in every discipline, reflecting both the strength and depth of the school’s athletics programme.
It proved to be a hugely successful championships, with multiple county champions and podium finishes across all age groups.
Leading the way were the school’s gold medallists:
- Rafe W‑R (U16 Long Jump)
- Boe G (U16 Shot & Discus – double champion)
- Niall M (U18 400m)
- Jared G (U18 3000m)
- Ifeoluwa O (U18 Long Jump)
- Daniil M (U18 High Jump, joint winner)
- Jamie B (U19 3000m)
- Grace G (U19 200m & 100m Hurdles – double champion)
In addition, there were a number of excellent silver and bronze medal performances, including:
- Leo T – silver in both the U18 200m and Long Jump
- Jasper H – bronze in the U16 100m and 200m
- Darcy N – silver in the U16 High Jump
- William H – silver in the U16 3000m
- Niall M – bronze in the U18 200m
Following their performances, a number of Shrewsbury athletes have been selected to represent Shropshire at the prestigious Mason Trophy.
Those selected include:
- Leo T (200m)
- Rafe W‑R (long Jum)
- Jaspar H 100m and 200m
- Indigo E 3000m
- Darcy N High Jump
- Boe G Discuss and Shot Putt
