You and your family are warmly invited to Old Salopian Day on Saturday September 13th
It’s your annual opportunity to come back to Shrewsbury and reminisce while seeing all the latest developments at School.
We’ll be offering the chance to try out the new high-tech golf simulator in the Billy Ward Golf Studio. The facility was wholly funded by generous donations from the OS Community.
Our guest speaker is Tim Willasey-Wilsey (M 1967-71). Tim is an author and visiting professor of War Studies at King’s College London following a distinguished career as a diplomat. Tim will be talking about his new book ‘The Spy & the Devil’ which recounts the untold story of MI6's top agent in Nazi Germany throughout the 1930s.
The Old Salopian Football Club will be fielding several teams against the School and there’ll be all the usual attractions including a classic car rally, art exhibition, music recital, library presentation, opportunity to visit your old house and lunch.
We’ll be reliving the 1980s at our reunion dinner which is for anyone who left the School in 1985,86,87,88,89 or 90. If you can send me any photos from the 80s ahead of the evening we’ll endeavour to create a display of a memorable decade for fashion and hairstyles!
You are also invited to the dinner if you fall into the following categories:
- Anyone who left before 1975
- Any member of staff who worked at the School before 1975 or between 1980-90
- Members of the SDC staying for the event on Sunday

New for 2025!
Thanks to the generosity of two Old Salopians we have two new offers for anyone planning a long weekend in Shrewsbury.
Paul Subbiani (Rb 1980-85) is offering a discounted rate to anyone attending OS Day at his hotel The Albright Hussey Manor Hotel just outside Shrewsbury.
Robin Nugent (1983-88) owns wine bar GlouGlou on Castle Foregate and the wine shop Iron and Rose in the covered market. Robin is offering wine flights – 5 pours of wine with an expert explaining the story behind them - and snacks at GlouGlou on Friday or Saturday evening for all Old Salopians attending OS Day. Email, telephone or just turn up on the night.
Hopefully there is something for everyone and I very much look forward to seeing you there!
