Congratulations to Towa N (EDH, V) who recently won the Kitakyushu City Mayor's Award for her design of a sea-cleaning robot.

Towa entered her design for the Sea Cleaning Plant and Robot Dream Content, in which people were asked to submit ideas under the theme “’Marine Wastes Collecting and Improvement of Marine Pollution’ as an effort to revive the fish and people-friendly marine environment for a sustainable society.”

Towa was researching this topic as part of her NEA and independently submitted an initial idea drawing of a turtle-shaped robot, an essay and two-minute video to the competition.

Head of Design and Technology, Nicola Perkins, added: “The Design Department are so proud of Towa and her critical thinking and problem solving.”
