Two students in Lower Sixth have received a Gold CREST Award for their outstanding STEM-based projects.

Jerry L (O, LVI) and Jason G (O, LVI) recently received the news of their achievement after completing their sophisticated project work.

Jason completed a project looking into the design of the rear-wing on the MacLaren Formula 1 car, whilst Jerry’s delved into the area of optics, which included time spent in a lab to complete investigative work. Both students utilised the Academic Perspective Physics sessions to develop their work and spent a significant amount of time outside the classroom working on their projects.

For their work, the students needed to hone their scientific and investigative skills and also developed the skills needed to complete long-term projects, such as time-management and report-writing. CREST Awards are externally assessed and require students to fulfil fifteen different project-wide criteria, typically spending 70 hours on their work.
