Cross-Country Championships Celebrate Team Spirit and Determination

Shrewsbury was delighted to welcome pupils from ten visiting schools to our annual Cross-Country Championships, hosted by the Royal Shrewsbury School Hunt on Sunday.
Runners from Bilton Grange, Birchfield, Moreton Hall, Oswestry, Packwood, Pinewood, Prestfelde, Terra Nova, West House, and Moor Park joined Shrewsbury pupils for an afternoon of competition, camaraderie, and spirited running across the School’s historic grounds.
The event showcased everything that makes cross-country running so special - grit, teamwork, and resilience, with pupils giving their all and supporting one another every step of the way.
A particular highlight of the day was the presence of special guest Elise Thorner, World Athletics Championship Finalist and British 3000m Steeplechase Champion, who presented medals and spoke to the young runners about the importance of perseverance and self-belief.
Reflecting on the event, Elise said:
“I was so impressed by the energy and effort from every runner today. Watching them push through the tough moments with smiles on their faces was incredibly inspiring, the future of running looks bright! Believe in yourselves; anything is possible.”
Our thanks go to all participating schools, pupils, staff, and supporters who made the afternoon such a success.
