Salopian Spirit Prevails as U14s and U15s Progress in National Cups

U14s Overcome Madeley Academy in ESFA Thriller
Our U14As staged a sensational comeback to defeat Madeley Academy 8–6 after extra time in the ESFA Cup. The game began with high intensity, but it was Madeley who took control early on, racing to a 2-0 lead and then 3–2 at half-time despite spirited resistance. The second half saw the U14s dig deep, battling against the clock. With the score at 6–4 to Madeley, the team showed remarkable resilience and belief as in the dying minutes of normal time, two dramatic goals brought the score level at 6–6, sending the match into extra time. Jasper H (S) then netted twice in extra time to complete the comeback and seal an unforgettable 8–6 victory. The boys are through to the next round of the ESFA Cup.
U15s Victorious in ISFA Away to Stockport
On a distinctly autumnal day, the U15As got caught cold in the first five minutes and went behind to an 'off both posts' goal. The boys responded well and grew into the game. A neat first touch and turn on the edge of the area gave Hari A (SH) the opportunity to dispatch his well-taken shot into the corner of the goal. Following chances at both ends, the game was in the balance and it was 1-1 at half time. A better grip in the middle at the start of the second half and gusty performances from all (despite some end of half term illness and injury), meant the pendulum started to swing in our favour and an in-swinging corner was planted into the back of the net by a towering and unmarked Jack S (Rt). The boys dug in and could have finished matters with a couple of good chances late on, but a composed and focused finish from all involved means that the U15 boys football team progress to Round 3 of the U15 ISFA competition, after what will be a well-earnt Exeat break.
