This Wednesday, the Boys’ 1st XI goes head-to-head against Wilmslow High School in this year’s ESFA semi-final.

Captain of the 1st XI Oscar C (O, UVI) has reflected on the match that got the team into the semi-finals, and what we can look forward to at this Wednesday’s home game.

Oscar said: “The team have had a good run in this competition in the last 2 years and we travelled to Torquay looking to cement our position in the semi-final. We have been dominant at home in previous rounds but the quarter final, away from home, would be our toughest challenge yet.

“The team started the game well, having to adapt our play style to suit some tough conditions. The lads had to compete with a physical Torquay team by winning both the first and second ball. After limiting Torquay to very few clear-cut chances, we conceded a late equaliser after a clinical counter attack.

“Despite the disappointment of conceding this late in the game, the team responded to with great character to grab a winner in the form a free kick from Isaac E (Rt, V).

“This coming Wednesday, we host Wilmslow High School at 2pm on Senior. We hope to replicate a similar experience to last year with the home crowd being our 12th player.

“We expect a tough game against what will be a quality opponent and hope to use energy from crowd to inspire the team and help us through difficult moments. With this in mind, we hope that as many Salopians, both past and present, can be there to support on the day to share what will hopefully be a successful day.”
