Salopians Celebrated at Shropshire Schools Sports Awards

Last week, Mr Adam Shantry and I attended the John Beswick Shropshire Schools Sports Awards, along with some of our Shrewsbury pupils.

The awards were based upon national and international sporting achievements in the 2024/25 academic year.  

The 1^st XI Girls Hockey team won the Derek Hayward Trophy, which is for the highest achieving Girls School Sports team in National Competition. 

The Girls achieved this for their performances in the England Hockey Vase Finals. Bella S-B, Amelia B and Emily C accepted the trophy on behalf of the team.

This is the 3^rd year running that we have won this award on the back of 2022/23 Junior Girls Coxless Four, 2023/24 Girls Coxless Four and now the 1^st XI Girls Hockey. 

The following also achieved awards for International Representation:

Lily C-W (England ISFA Football) 

Robbie L (Scotland Rowing) 

Freddie O (Ireland Cricket)

Richard W (Great Britain Rowing)

It is always fantastic to give those pupils who have worked hard and excelled in any area, recognition for their achievements!
