Shrewsbury pupils enjoyed an outstanding day of success at the Senior Schools National Arena Polo Championships, held at Rugby Polo Club on Sunday 1 March, returning with an impressive haul of medals across multiple divisions.

The School entered four teams in the national competition, with many of the players having only begun learning the sport in recent months. The teams demonstrated remarkable progress, skill and determination throughout the tournament.

In the beginners’ division, two Shrewsbury teams produced excellent performances. Mary A, Zara B and Holly M delivered a confident series of matches to secure the Silver medal, while Peggy A, Phoebe B and Sophie M also impressed, earning the Bronze medal after a series of competitive games.

Meanwhile, in the intermediate division, Konrad B and Jason G produced a strong performance. Winning all of their matches, the pair topped their division to claim Gold, successfully retaining Shrewsbury’s title of National Champions at this level for the second consecutive year.

The results reflect the enthusiasm and development of Shrewsbury’s polo players, many of whom have taken up the sport only recently. Their success at a national competition is a testament to their commitment, teamwork and growing confidence in the arena.

Congratulations to all the pupils involved on a fantastic achievement and a memorable day representing Shrewsbury.
