Shrewsbury School has announced the appointment of Mrs Lizzie Moore as Housemistress of The Grove from September 2026.

Throughout the recruitment process, Mrs Moore demonstrated a deep commitment to pastoral care, a genuine enthusiasm for working with young people and a thoughtful understanding of the distinctive character and values that make The Grove such a special community within the School.

Mrs Moore is currently a Housemistress at Wrekin College, where she also serves as Head of Agriculture and Food Science and Nutrition. A qualified Teacher of Science and Designated Safeguarding Lead, she brings extensive experience in both pastoral leadership and academic teaching.

She grew up on a farm in Shropshire and was educated at Ellesmere College, where she was Head Girl, before going on to study at the University of Hull. Over the course of her career she has also taught Chemistry and Psychology and previously served as Head of Key Stage 3 at Thomas Telford College.

Mrs Moore is a keen cross-country runner and an enthusiastic coach of netball and hockey. She is also actively involved in charity fundraising and volunteering. She is married to Luke, who serves in the Army.

Mrs Moore will succeed Mrs Clare Wilson, who has led The Grove with dedication and care for the past 12 years. Over the coming months, Mrs Wilson will work closely with Mrs Moore to ensure a smooth and successful transition.

Mrs Wilson will remain an important part of the Shrewsbury community from September 2026 onwards. There will be opportunities over the coming months for The Grove community, present and past, to thank Clare for all she has done as an outstanding Housemistress.
