The new county-wide initiative, brought together talented Year 10 artists from eleven schools across Shropshire, offering pupils the opportunity to showcase their GCSE artwork in a professional gallery setting.
Each participating school was invited to select five pupils to exhibit their work, with entries judged by artists and art lecturers from The Arts Society Shrewsbury ahead of the exhibition opening to the public.
Representing Shrewsbury School were Fleur W, Nina G, Fred L, Agatha R and Kitty C, whose work was displayed alongside pieces from schools including Concord College, Thomas Adams School, Bridgnorth Endowed School and Priory School.
The School’s pupils achieved notable success, with Nina G receiving a Special Mention and Fred L awarded a Highly Commended accolade by the judging panel, for his striking skull print, receiving a £50 voucher alongside £50 worth of art equipment.
The awards were presented by the Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire during a special ceremony attended by local dignitaries, artists and members of the wider community, recognising the creativity and talent of young artists from across the county.
