University Birmingham Track & Field Series

On Wednesday, May 11th, three of our athletes travelled to Birmingham University to take part in their Summer Series. This is an opportunity for athletes to race strong opposition, look to record Personal Bests and hope to get close to European Qualifying Standard and English Schools times. On Wednesday evening there was also a BMC (British Milers Club) races – facilitating fast competition – the premier middle distance club in the Country.

Iris D (G, LVI)

Iris races in the BMC 800m finishing 1st in a time of 2.05.64 - over 3 seconds off her current PB! Her time was 2.5 seconds under the U18 European Qualifying time and only 0.64 seconds off the U20 World Qualifying time – a tremendous achievement – well deserved Iris and huge congratulations from all of us!

Jack K (PH, IV)

Finished 1st in his first official 400m. Clocking 50.36 - this puts Jack at No 2 in the UK U17 Rankings and achieving his first English Schools Entry Time. An exceptionally quick 400m – well done Jack!

Harry P-M (I, IV)

Finished 1st in his 400m with a time of 54.08 - another quick lap time! Not only was Harry part of the 4x400m winning team at the Achilles, but he also competed at KES Birmingham before heading off to a Ski Competition in Manchester! Well done, Harry!

The week ahead:

Tomorrow (Saturday 14th May) Shropshire County Championships at Telford. 58 athletes will compete tomorrow on what promises to be a very successful day. More PBs and the opportunity for students to add results to their Power of 10.

Good Luck all!
