Partnership Community Engagement (PCE) Charity

Our All Night Sports Marathon has become a firm fixture on our fundraising calendar.

This year’s sporting marathon takes place on Friday 9th February, with 36 Salopians taking part in ten sports events over ten hours in order to raise money for Restart Africa.

Several teachers will join in throughout the night and there will be vast stocks of cakes and drinks in supply to keep our champions going.  By the morning of Saturday 10th Feb our champs will be ready to start their exeat, safe in the knowledge that they have raised much needed money for Restart Africa.

Restart Africa is a charity based in Gilgil, Kenya whose primary aim is to rescue destitute street children.  They are given shelter, care, education and safety.  Restart Africa also run projects to help the wider community, providing employment, opportunity and self-respect for local people.

Our aim is to raise as much money as possible to support as many children as we can and make a difference to their education.  As part of our regular, weekly volunteering programme, some of our students use technology to connect with Restart Africa children to support them with their learning and to create a buddying system.  Our students can see first-hand how important fundraising is for this charity and the difference that it can make.  Every £360 raised pays for the education of a street child for a whole year.  In turn, this raises aspirations and lifestyle, contributing greatly to the Gilgil community as a whole.

In addition to this, this Easter a group of our Shrewsbury School students are heading out to Restart Africa to volunteer and support the charity, further news about this to follow.

Please use the following link to donate - every pound of donation will have a big impact on an innocent child’s life.
