This year, the Eco Committee has bid farewell to its former leaders and welcomed ten new ones—our largest leadership team to date.
We are excited about this milestone and the opportunities it brings. Meeting attendance has been consistently strong, and we are keen to keep that momentum going. Our goals remain clear: to improve the Eco Committee, drive meaningful change within the school, and, most importantly, continue welcoming new faces at every meeting. We look forward to seeing you there.
Meet the new Eco Committee Leaders...
Hi, my name is Will and I joined the Eco Committee to help educate people about what we are doing about the rising problem of climate change and what we as a school are doing to combat it. It is also a very important matter to think about what not just me, but the whole committee want to do with our school.

Hello, my name is Harry and I am one of the new leaders of the Eco-Committee. I have been part of the committee for just over two years and have developed a deep interest in environmental issues. I believe that individuals can have a meaningful impact - both positive and negative - on the world around them. It was this belief, along with a desire to help the committee grow, that encouraged me to apply for a leadership role. This year, I hope to improve the school’s recycling system, making it easier and more accessible for everyone. I also aim to raise the profile of the Eco-Committee within the school community. One day, I would love for being a member of Shrewsbury’s Eco-Committee to be a point of pride among students and staff alike.

Hi, my name is Johnnie and since joining Shrewsbury, one of my goals has been to become a leader of the Eco Committee. Whilst I have always wanted to help the environment, the main reason I wanted this position was to have the chance to make a difference to the school in a way that few other members of the school can, which has already been shown through the success of the pollinators garden. Throughout the course of this year, it will be my aim to reduce food waste at Shrewsbury, raise money for environmental charities and begin another project like the pollinators garden that can improve the school’s biodiversity for years to come.

Hi, I'm Bob. I’m proud to be selected as one of the Leaders of the Eco Committee. I have always had a strong interest in the environment and sustainability, and becoming a leader on this committee felt like the perfect opportunity to turn that passion into action.
As a leader, I hope to encourage more people to get involved in eco-friendly initiatives and help make our school more sustainable. This year, I’d like to focus on projects such as increasing and improving recycling systems as well as promoting energy-saving habits across the school. I’m also keen to raise awareness through other projects and eco-themed events that get everyone engaged and informed. I believe that even small changes at a local level, like within our school, can contribute to a much bigger positive effect on the planet.

Hello, I am Natalie and I recently became an eco-leader at the start of this Summer term. My fellow eco leaders and I are planning many new projects this year as we would like to see the committee grow and flourish. I wanted to become a leader as I believed it would allow me to combine a variation of student's ideas and allow us all, as a committee, to act upon these ideas and ultimately make the school a more sustainable and environmentally conscious place.

Hi, my name is Mya and I am proud to be one of the Leaders of the Eco Committee this year. I have always been passionate about the environment and believe that even the smallest actions can contribute to meaningful change. In today’s world, the importance of protecting our planet has never been greater. It is essential that we act now to ensure a thriving, sustainable future for generations to come. I took on this role to help raise awareness within our school community and to encourage more environmentally conscious choices. While becoming informed about sustainability is relatively easy, taking consistent, impactful action can be much more challenging. This year, I hope to lead initiatives that not only promote greener habits across the school but also help turn awareness into meaningful action. I’m excited to work alongside the Eco Committee and the wider student body to make a lasting, positive impact.

Hi, my name is Samantha. I joined the Eco Committee back in Fourth Form, inspired by the enthusiasm and leadership of the previous committee leaders. Growing up in Singapore's urban environment, I was fascinated by the natural flora here in Shrewsbury School. I became a leader to act upon my interest in improving our school's green space and supporting the implementation of renewable energy around the school site.

Hello, my name is Hannah and I’m happy to be one of the Eco-Committee leaders this year. I wanted to help the school become more eco-friendly as environmental news is more important than ever. I hope to continue past projects from previous leaders and initiate new ideas that encourage more participation from the wider school community.
Hannah M (MSH, V)
Hi, my name is Remus, and I applied for the eco-committee in hopes of not only bolstering my leadership skills but also trying to raise awareness to the issues concerning our environment and making our school more sustainable in the process.
Remus Y (O, V)
Hello, my name is Kate. I became an Eco committee leader because I want to change the school, to make it a more sustainable and pleasing place to live where nature and modern technology can exist together in a balance. I believe that the Eco committee can make a significant difference in our school, setting an example to other schools and communities to demonstrate that it can be an ecological and sustainable environment. Within the Eco committee we can spread awareness about the ecological problems happening in the world today so we can start making a change at our school.
