Shrewsbury’s Head of Sixth Form Achieves Counsellor Accreditation

Shrewsbury School warmly congratulates Mr Toby Percival, Head of Sixth Form, on receiving his certificate as an accredited counsellor with the Times Higher Education Counsellor Accreditation Programme (CAP).
Mr Percival is the first member of staff at Shrewsbury to complete this internationally recognised qualification, which focuses on providing high-quality individual guidance for pupils exploring higher education opportunities around the world. The programme covers a wide range of core modules, from adopting social-emotional learning approaches, to empowering students to understand the practicalities and processes when connecting with potential universities.
This achievement strengthens Shrewsbury’s provision of expert, personalised support for pupils as they navigate the practicalities of applying to universities worldwide. It complements the School’s broader approach to wellbeing and whole person education, which equips pupils with the confidence, skills, and resilience to flourish in life beyond Shrewsbury.
Reflecting on the accreditation, Mr Percival said:
“I am pleased to receive my accreditation as a counsellor with The Times Higher Education Counsellor Accreditation Programme. At Shrewsbury, our focus is always on the individual, ensuring each pupil feels confident, supported, and empowered as they take the next steps in life.
“With the skills I learned on this course, I hope to support pupils further as they make informed choices about their futures, while strengthening the culture of care and wellbeing that underpins everything we do at Shrewsbury."
