From Shrewsbury Stage to Drama School Success for Faye
Shrewsbury is delighted to celebrate the success of Upper Sixth Drama Scholar Faye (UVI, G), who has received offers from three of the country’s leading drama schools and will go on to study acting at Guildford School of Acting (GSA) this autumn.
Faye’s achievement follows a highly competitive and demanding audition process, including self-taped performances and in-person auditions in London. Her success is a testament to both her talent and her dedication to her craft.
Faye joined Shrewsbury in Third Form and quickly immersed herself in the School’s vibrant theatre programme. Her first production, ‘Into the Woods’, saw her take on the role of Cinderella, an experience she describes as transformative. “It was my first time performing in such a large-scale production,” she reflects. “The level of commitment from the teachers, crew and cast was incredible, and from that moment I knew how much I loved being part of it.”

During her time at Shrewsbury, Faye has embraced a wide range of performance opportunities, most recently appearing in ‘Agamemnon’, a bold and challenging production which allowed her to explore a darker, more complex role. “It was so different from anything we’d done before, with stage combat and a much more intense style of storytelling. I really loved that challenge,” she says.

Alongside her work in drama, Faye has also excelled in dance and performance more broadly. She has achieved high grades in both LAMDA and IDTA Professional Intermediate Ballet, and is a member of English Youth Ballet. Her passion for performance extends beyond the stage; for her Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), Faye produced and directed her own Musical Theatre Showcase, gaining first-hand experience of leading auditions, rehearsals and bringing a full production to life.

Beyond the performing arts, Faye has contributed fully to school life through sport, including netball and athletics, reflecting Shrewsbury’s commitment to whole person education.
Reflecting on her time at the School, Faye credits Shrewsbury with enabling her to develop both as a performer and as an individual. “It’s allowed me to pursue my passion for performing arts while also trying so many other things. It’s busy, but it means you’re never limited to just one interest.”
The School’s facilities have also played a key role in her development. From rehearsals in the studios to performances in the professional-standard theatre, Faye has benefited from an environment that nurtures creativity and ambition. “It’s such an inspiring space to work in. I spent a lot of time there preparing for auditions, and it really helped me grow in confidence.”
Looking ahead, Faye is excited to take the next step in her journey. “I’m really looking forward to meeting new people and continuing to develop as an actor.”

You can hear more from Faye in this video interview:
Dr Helen Brown, Head of Drama at Shrewsbury School, said:
“We are incredibly proud of Faye’s success. To receive multiple offers from leading drama schools is a wonderful achievement and reflects both her talent and her commitment to her craft.”
Every year, Shrewsbury pupils go on to study at the country’s top conservatoires, including ArtsEd, Guildhall, Mountview, LAMDA, GSA and the Royal Academy of Music. One of our recent leavers has appeared alongside Aiden Turner in ‘Break Point’ (Amazon) and plays Louise in the new adaptation of ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’. Another is appearing in Guy Ritchie's new series, 'Young Sherlock', whilst another is working on the production team for the new Harry Potter series.
