We are delighted to celebrate an exceptional set of university offers received by Shrewsbury pupils, reflecting their academic ambition, intellectual curiosity and sustained hard work over many years.

This year has seen four offers from the University of Cambridge, two from the University of Oxford, a prestigious offer from Harvard University, and five offers for Medicine and Veterinary Medicine already. 90% of the cohort have already received offers, including popular destinations for Salopians like Imperial, UCL, St Andrews, Edinburgh and Durham.

Congratulations to the following pupils on their offers from University of Cambridge:

  • Jerica C (G) – Jesus College, Cambridge, Education
  • Mia H (G) – St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, Theology, Religion and Philosophy of Religion
  • Harry P (S) – St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, Medicine
  • George R (SH) – Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, Medicine

University of Oxford:

  • Jess F-A (EDH) – St Hilda’s College, Oxford, French and German
  • Max W (SH) – The Queen’s College, Oxford, Law

Earlier this month, Richard W (I), received an exceptional offer to study at Harvard. Richard becomes the third Salopian in as many years to secure a place at Harvard, following former Heads of School Nat and Luke in 2024, a rare distinction that places Shrewsbury among a very small number of UK schools to achieve this milestone.

In addition, two pupils have already secured excellent offers in Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, two of the most competitive courses in the UK:

  • Katie J (EDH) – University of Leeds, Medicine
  • Nat G (EDH) – University of Liverpool, Veterinary Medicine
  • Scarlett W (U) – University of Nottingham and the University of Liverpool, Veterinary Medicine

In music, congratulations to Bob L (S), who has received offers from five leading conservatoires - The Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Royal Northern College of Music, and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama to continue his bassoon studies next year.

Shrewsbury’s Headmaster Leo Winkley said:

“We are proud of these outstanding offers, and prouder still of the young people behind them.

“I am also deeply grateful to the teachers, tutors and our dedicated Futures team, whose collective expertise, care and guidance have supported these pupils so thoughtfully throughout their studies and applications.”

Dan Reeve, Deputy Head (Academic), said:

“The whole Shrewsbury community is deeply proud of these impressive offers and the talented pupils who have secured them. They are a testament to the whole-person ethos that our pupils embody, demonstrating exceptional academic potential in fields including Medicine, Theology, and Law, alongside outstanding contributions to sport, music, or pupil leadership.

“These offers are a testament to the pupils’ commitment and ambition, and we congratulate all involved on these superb achievements.”

Pupils at Shrewsbury consistently achieve exceptionally strong results placing us as one of the leading schools in the UK.

2025 was another outstanding year for Shrewsbury pupils; 87% progressed to their first-choice university destinations, including Oxbridge and 65% securing places at Russell Group universities including Exeter, UCL and Durham.

Eight pupils ventured to North America, several with scholarships, including one as a Robertson Scholar at the University of North Carolina and Duke University. In the same year, 16 leavers continued their studies at world-class music conservatoires and drama schools, including LAMDA, Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, ArtsEd, Mountview, Guildhall, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and the Royal Northern College of Music.
