Shrewsbury Catering Team Named Sodexo Independent School Team of the Year

Shrewsbury School’s Catering Team has been named Team of the Year within the Independent School Sector by Sodexo and has now been shortlisted for the National Sodexo Awards, to be held in London this May.

The team will go on to compete against outstanding catering services from state schools, universities, the care sector and other Sodexo partners nationwide.

Headmaster Leo Winkley said:

Led so inspiringly by our General Manager Matt Warburton alongside award-winning Head Chef, Calum Smith, the team bring extraordinary care, creativity and professionalism to every meal, seven days a week.

"For our boarders, who enjoy three meals a day with us throughout the school year, this is more than catering: it is, in a very real sense, their home cooking. The team understand that responsibility deeply, taking pride in providing food that is comforting, nourishing and thoughtfully prepared, while also listening closely to pupils, championing sustainability and nutritional education, and continually evolving our dining experience.

"Good food fuels wellbeing, focus and optimism, enabling our pupils to participate and thrive across the full breadth of school life, from keeping our rowers performing at their best on the river, to sustaining our musicians as they perform on national stages, and supporting the staff whose expertise and care underpin everything we do.

"Our shared dining space Kingsland Hall is a place of community and enjoyment. This award is wholly deserved in recognition of a team that plays a vital role in helping our pupils flourish, for life."
