Shrewsbury School is delighted to celebrate the success of Sixth Form pupil Will O (UVI, Ch), who has received an Extraordinary Talent Award from Bird Conservatoire, where he will go on to study Professional Dance and Musical Theatre next year.

Over the past five years, Will has been a central part of Shrewsbury’s vibrant theatre community. He will perform once more at this summer’s Edinburgh Fringe in the School’s production of ‘Brodie & Co’, before taking the next exciting step in his training.

Reflecting on his offer, Will said:

“I feel very lucky to have had such incredible experiences at Shrewsbury over the past five years.

“Bird explores a wide range of singing styles, with a strong emphasis on acting through song, which really appealed to me. Throughout the application process, I was supported every step of the way by an exceptional staff team across drama, dance and music. There is a real sense of community at Shrewsbury, and I know the friendships and support network I have built here will stay with me for life.”

You can hear more about Will's Performing Arts journey at Shrewsbury here:

Head of Drama, Dr Helen Brown, said:

“We are exceptionally proud of Will. His incredible talent as a performer has made a lasting impact on our theatre community. This is a wholly deserved recognition of his dedication and hard work, and we are excited to see all that he will go on to achieve.”

Every year, Shrewsbury pupils go on to study at the country’s top conservatoires, including ArtsEd, Guildhall, Mountview, LAMDA, GSA and the Royal Academy of Music. One of our recent leavers has appeared alongside Aiden Turner in ‘Break Point’ (Amazon) and plays Louise in the new adaptation of ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’. Another is appearing in Guy Ritchie's new series, 'Young Sherlock', whilst another is working on the production team for the new Harry Potter series.
