On Tuesday evening the loudest house event of the year took place in the sports hall with the Houses battling it out for honours in the Hope Simpson ergo competition.

Each of the houses had a team of four pupils per year group taking part. Each of the pupils would go flat out for around twenty strokes before quickly changing over in the relay format as they looked to cover the distances in the fastest possible time. The 3rd,4th and 5th Form boys and girls raced over 2000m and 1750m respectively and the Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth boys and girls competed over 2500m and 3000m respectively.

The sport hall turned into a cauldron of noise and energy as the teams battled it out in some very closely contested races. There was a tremendous effort by all involved and many of the times came close to breaking previous school records.

The winning teams were the following:

3rd Form: Ingram’s and Emma Darwin Hall

4th Form: Churchill’s and Moser’s Hall

5th Form: Ingram’s and Emma Darwin Hall

L6th: School House and Moser’s Hall

U6th: Oldham’s and Emma Darwin Hall

The overall winners were Ingram’s and Emma Darwin Hall.
