Strong finishes for Boys' rowing crews at Marlow

Marlow Regatta held at Eton Dorney saw two senior boys eights race a time trial over 1900 metres and a final over 2000m in their respective events.

The 2nd VIII made up of Lower 6th and 5th formers of Candela B-C (G, LVI), Ioan M-T(R, LVI), Toby S (I, LVI), Will B (R, V), Theo E (O, LVI), Maxi P (R, V), Harry K-S (O, V), John H (Ch, V) and Henry H (SH, LVI) who were racing in Junior 2nd eights qualified for the A final. In the final they put together a great race to come 7th against opposition who had medalled at National Schools regatta a few weeks before and were a year or two older. Great to see a glimpse of what’s to come next year.

The 1st VIII of Cameron G (O, UVI), Oscar C(Rt, UVI), Max E (SH, LVI), Max W (R, UVI), Richard W (I, LVI), Ben M (S, LVI), Alexander D (I, LVI), Joe D (SH, UVI) and Robbie L (S, LVI) were racing in Junior eights event. This event is mixed in with University and top club crews to make exciting racing in the finals. From the time trial our boys came 29th out of 108 which put them into the D final.

The final didn’t disappoint with tight racing and the 1st eight putting a great sprint at the finish line to come 3rd in their final, racing up spots from the time trial. Importantly out of the Junior eights we finished 8th, which is exciting for Henley Royal Regatta which start on July 1st.
