Historic sculling races see 62 crews take to the water

The banks of the Severn were alive with excitement on Saturday as the Boat Club hosted its annual Victoria Sabrina and Williams Sculling Races. This much-anticipated event is a highlight of the rowing calendar, with sixty-two boats taking to the water in a spirited test of speed, stamina, and skill.
Crews lined up on the 1,000-metre course, powering upstream from Coleham footbridge to the Henley Stone, just before Pengwern Boat Club. The races were fiercely contested, with pupils giving their all in pursuit of House pride and individual glory.
Spectators were treated to some superb displays of sculling, among the standout moments was M Evans (School House) setting a new record, underlining the depth of talent in this year’s squad.

The sculling races remain a proud tradition at Shrewsbury, giving rowers the chance to test themselves on home waters in front of their peers, coaches, and families. Congratulations to all those who participated.
