Seven Shrewsbury School crews travelled to London to compete in the inaugural Junior Fours Head of the River.
The race was held on the Championship Course along the Tideway from Chiswick to Putney. Despite challenging, torrential conditions, all crews delivered commendable performances.
The standout result came from the Senior Boys Coxed Four, who claimed first place out of 25 entries — a remarkable achievement. Their winning time of 20:14.0 edged out this year’s Henley Royal Regatta champions, Shiplake College, by a mere 0.8 seconds, underscoring the crew’s exceptional composure and determination under pressure.
Congratulations to the victorious crew: Richard W (I – UVI), Max E (SH – UVI), Ben M (S – UVI), Robbie L (S – UVI), and cox Eliza H (G – LVI).
This result reflects the depth of talent and commitment across the squad and marks another proud moment for Shrewsbury rowing on the national stage.
Mr Athol Hundermark, Head of Rowing
