Seven Shrewsbury crews took part in the North of England Head that runs over a 5000m course on the River Dee in Chester.

The 10am race start meant an early departure from school, but the conditions were excellent, and it was great to be out racing.

The first Shrewsbury crew down the track were the Boys’ 1st VIII racing in band 1 of J18 eights, they were then followed by the 2nd VIII in band 2 eights. Both crews put in their best performance of the season so far to win their categories.

The Girls 1st VIII put in a strong showing in Women’s Open VIII’s to place 2nd overall out of seventeen crews. The boys and girls J16 VIII’s both placed third out of five in their events. The J15 boys octuples placed second and third in their event.
