Shrewsbury cricketers showcase their skills during successful summer

The driest summer in many years has given Shrewsbury's cricketers the chance to showcase their skills in idyllic conditions, with blue skies and warm sunshine a near constant feature throughout the term.
The boys have had another exceptional year, with the seniors and U15s both reaching the semi-final stage of their national cup competitions for the second consecutive year. The U17s reached the semi-final of the Cricket Paper cup following a thrilling run of victories, while the U15 team were crowned Midlands T20 champions, and will challenge for the national title in August. The senior boys have now reached the final four stage of the national cup competitions in each of the past four seasons, which is a record unmatched by any other school in the country. The U14 side have reached the County Cup final which takes place this afternoon, where victory would see them qualify for the national stage of the competition next summer.
Recognition from 1st Class Counties including Worcestershire, Lancashire, Warwickshire and Glamorgan came for no fewer than eleven players, while last season's 1st XI captain Jack Home (O, 2019-2024) was named in the England U19 side to take on India this summer.
Will P-W (Rt, IV) has scored 776 runs in all competitions, with Freddie O (Ch, LVI) hitting 763. On wickets that have offered little assistance to the bowlers, Arjan B (SH, IV) has 54 victims, while Bryan M's (Ch, III) 53 scalps have astoundingly been spread between his appearances for the U14s, U15s, U17s and 1st XI.
The girls have had another impressive season, with victories over Shropshire and Warwickshire the highlights, while the young side has seen three U14s make their debuts for the 1st XI. Anna H (M, III), Helena F (G, III) and Freya P (EDH, III) have all excelled at their own age group and made a big impact when stepping up to play for the 1st XI, with Anna taking on the role of opening bowler with much success.
Millie P (MSH, V), Aamna K (M, V) and Cerys T (QEH, IV) continue to be involved with Warwickshire Girls EPP, while Charlotte K (QEH, UVI), Millie P and Aamna K have also played for Shropshire Women in the Vitality County Cup and Vitality Blast.
Aamna K has 748 runs to her name and Cerys T 596, with Millie P claiming 17 wickets and Anna 16.
