Freddie Selected for ICC Men’s U19 World Cup

Shrewsbury School is delighted to announce that Freddie O has been selected to represent Ireland at the International Cricket Council Men’s U19 World Cup this January.

Freddie will travel to Zimbabwe and Namibia, joining the world’s best young cricketers on the international stage and completing what has been a meteoric rise for the young Salopian, a fantastic accomplishment and a proud moment for the School. 

Reflecting on his selection, Freddie said: 

“I’m absolutely delighted to have been selected to represent Ireland at the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup. 

“It’s a huge honour, and something I’ve been working towards for a long time. I’m incredibly grateful to all my coaches, especially Mr Shantry, who has supported me since I first arrived in Third Form, as well as my teammates and everyone at Shrewsbury who has helped me along the way. 

“With only a few weeks until I depart, I can’t wait to get out there, test myself against the best young cricketers in the world, and make the most of this incredible opportunity.”
