OS Christmas drinks in Birmingham and Shrewsbury

The Salopian Club hosted a party at School after the Carol Service and an informal drinks party in Birmingham.

The festive season is off to an excellent start in the Old Salopian Community. First the annual Birmingham Drinks were held at Saint Pauls House Hotel in St Paul’s Square in the Jewellery Quarter. There are strong historic associations with the area as the St Paul’s Club, which has relocated, was the scene of many a Birmingham Dinner in the past. Whilst that was a formal meal in a gentlemen’s club the modern Birmingham Drinks is a multi-generational event in a buzzing bar and restaurant. Old Salopians studying in the city mingled with those who are just starting out in their careers and others who are retired. It was good to welcome the President Tim Lamb, who travelled from St Albans for the event, to his first Birmingham Drinks.

Ten days later Old Salopians gathered after the Carol Service to enjoy some festive cheer in the Barnes Theatre Atrium. Anyone who attended the service was very welcome to join the party and it was good to see parents, Old Salopians and Posters chatting and enjoying some first class entertainment from the Fraggle Brothers – the School’s in house band.

Our next event will be the Epiphany Carol Service on January 14th.
