At the end of the holidays, the Girls’ Cricket 1st XI hosted Severn Sapphires Women, Shropshire Women, Staffordshire Women and Warwickshire Girls U18s at school for a series of preseason fixtures.

Unfortunately, all matches were affected by the weather, with games against Severn Sapphires and Staffordshire Women ultimately abandoned.

Despite the challenging conditions, the girls recorded a 28-run victory against Shropshire. They also faced Warwickshire Girls U18s twice, narrowly losing the first match by 33 runs before a closely fought second game ended in a three-wicket defeat.

There were several standout individual performances across the fixtures. Daisy Pearce impressed with an unbeaten 58, while Cerys Tippings produced outstanding contributions, scoring 63 not out and 90. Millie Parry also made a significant impact with an excellent unbeaten 74.

On Sunday 19th April, the Girls’ 1st XI played their first competitive fixture of the season against Malvern College. Shrewsbury successfully chased down 230 runs in the 34th over, led by a superb unbeaten 130 from Sanvi Surapaneni.

On Wednesday, the Girls U15's played their first cup match of the 2026 season at Ellesmere College. Shrewsbury bowled Ellesmere out for 68 in the 15th over with Freya Perks (2-0-5-3) taking 3 of the wickets in one over. Sophia Parton (2.4-0-9-2) and Sophie Longworth (2-0-12-2) also contributed to the strong bowling attack. Shrewsbury then chased down the runs in the 8th over with Sophia Parton (15) and Anna Hurford (20*) being the top run scorers.

The Girls 1st XI have also broken a record after scoring 248-4 off just 20 overs against Solihull Girls 1st XI. Millie Parry (71 off 50), Sanvi Surapaneni (57 off 40) and Cerys Tippings (76 off 25) all contributed to the fantastic batting performance. Shrewsbury then kept the hosts down to 142-2 off their 20 overs with Aamna Khan and Cerys Tippings picking up a wicket each.

Most recently, the Girls 1st XI played in the first round of the Girls U18’s Cricket Paper Cups against Newcastle Under Lyme Girls 1st XI.

Newcastle Under Lyme won the toss and elected to bat first. They finished on 82-4 off their 100 balls with Hurford, Parry and Surapaneni all picking up a wicket each.

Khan and Tippings then opened the batting and chased down the runs in 30 balls without losing a wicket. Tippings top scored with a magnificent 57* off just 19 balls.

Later the same week, the Girls 1st XI played in the first round of the School Sport Magazine National T20 Cup against Ellesmere College. Shrewsbury batted first with Cerys T (67*) and Aamna K (48*) batting through the 20 overs for an unbeaten stand of 180. Shrewsbury then bowled Ellesmere College out for 63 with the bowling led by Sanvi S (4-7), Sophia P (3-7) and Aamna K (2-4).

A fantastic start for the Girls 1st XI.
