Sisters selected by Team GB for European Fencing event

Two Salopian sisters have been selected to represent Great Britain in Fencing at an U17 international European ranking event.

Eleanor B (EDH, LVI) and Amelia B (MSH, IV) have both been selected to compete at the EFC Cadet in Bulgaria at the end of November.

For Amelia, this is her first time to be selected for GB in an event like this.

Amelia said: “In order to be selected I have trained hard over the summer and throughout school holidays as much as possible. The selection process for these competitions consists of a number of national competitions where points are won and put into a ranking system. The top ranked fencers at the end of this competition circuit are then selected to represent Team GB for the U17s Cadets.

“To have been selected for such a competition feels like an amazing achievement and I am very proud to be representing my country in something that I enjoy doing alongside my teammates in just a couple of weeks’ time.”
