The last few weeks of term have been filled with incredible music-making and festive cheer, culminating in an array of impressive performances.

The much-anticipated Christmas Concert was an uplifting evening of seasonal favourites performed in a variety of styles. From stylish vocal ensembles to accomplished instrumental ensembles, the programme showcased the breadth of musical talent in the school. The evening concluded with energetic performances from the Jazz Band and Big Band, leaving the audience buzzing with festive cheer. Memorable highlights included the best outfit award, which went to a member of the Clarinet Ensemble dressed as a full Christmas tree, a true showstopper! We were also treated to performances from some remarkably talented multi-instrumentalists, demonstrating versatility and skill across different sections. It was an evening thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Adding to the festive tradition were the Carol Services, the first in Chapel on Sunday and the second for the whole school on Monday in St Chad’s. Both services featured beautifully blended carols and some outstanding soloists. The Chamber Choir’s performance of Sleep was certainly a highlight, showcasing their musicality and sensitivity. As ever, Mr Robbins chose exciting repertoire that both challenged and inspired the singers, the Spanish carol in particular demanded focus and flair! We wish the choir well for their final Carol Service this evening.

In addition to their impressive appearance at the Christmas Concert, The Fraggle Brothers have been busy spreading festive cheer beyond the school, having entertained the OS community on Sunday evening and exciting the crowds at Attingham Park on Wednesday afternoon with some truly outstanding soloing. Their energy and musicianship have certainly added to jolly nature of their performances.
