Outstanding Musical Achievement for Chit

Chit did extremely well in winning the U18 category of The Ulster Society of Organists and Choirmasters Organ Composition Competition in association with the Royal Society of Organists.
Over the summer, Chit wrote a theme and variation based piece on Let all mortal flesh keep silence, he was commended for writing a piece that demonstrated considerable skill in counterpoint, both canon and fugue, interesting textures and good overall flow and form.
Last Saturday, Chit’s composition was performed as one of 13 short-listed pieces in a recital at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh, the results were announced to warm applause. Congratulations to Chit.
“I am incredibly honoured to have won this prestigious organ competition. Having only recently started playing the organ, I am very grateful for Mr Kellas' help in guiding me through various playing techniques and sound productions. I hope to learn more about the organ repertoire and compose in different styles.” – Chit S (V, R)
