Earlier this term, I had the honour of representing the Shrewsbury School CCF at The Rifles Biennial Awards Dinner, held at the London Guildhall. The event brought together the five pillars of The Rifles (regulars, reserves, cadets, associations and communities) including the Regiment’s Colonel-in-Chief, Queen Camilla. The evening celebrated the accomplishments of Riflemen over the past two years.

The evening began with a drink’s reception, giving us the chance to meet other Riflemen and cadets. This was then followed by speeches from the Colonel Commandant Lieutenant-General Sir Tom Copinger-Symes and the Queen.

After the meal, awards were then presented, among them one to Old Salopian Rob Treasure (I 2009-14) for rowing across the Atlantic for charity.

Overall, it was a very inspiring event to attend and a privilege to represent the School and CCF.
