Third Form Pupils visit Local Employers

As part of the school’s BASE Programme, the Futures Department has begun taking Third Form pupils on visits to a range of local employers to help them develop an early understanding of the world of work.
So far this term, pupils have visited Greenhous and Aico, with further employer visits planned throughout the remainder of the term. These organisations have been incredibly welcoming and generous with their time, providing pupils with valuable insight into how their businesses operate.

Pupils at Greenhous and Aico
The visits are designed to help pupils explore the wide variety of career pathways available within Shropshire, giving them a real-life context for future choices and an opportunity to see how different roles and departments work together within an organisation.
Our pupils have represented the school extremely well. They have been highly engaged, enthusiastic, and inquisitive, asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine interest in the opportunities available to them. We have further visits planned with AO Recycling, Harper Adams University, Purple Frog and Morris Lubricants.

We have received some excellent feedback from pupils after are first two visits: “I really enjoyed my time at Greenhous car dealership, I’ve always been into cars and this trip has opened my eyes to all the different jobs in the automobile industry. All the people there were really welcoming and gave great insights into the world of cars.” Ayo G Severn Hill
“In the employer visit during my BASE session, we went round a company called Aico. There they gave us a very interesting tour, which included their storage facilities, technology team, and product development area. After that, we all went and completed some challenges, which involved teamwork, maths, problem solving, product invention and pitching. Overall, it was a great afternoon which was enlightening and entertaining.” Matilda E Moser’s
We are always keen to build new links with local employers and would be very happy to hear from any organisations interested in supporting our programme or hosting future visits.
