The Royal Marine and Rifles Sections of Shrewsbury Combined Cadet Force enjoyed an action packed nitex and Field Day last week.

The group travelled to South Wales and discovered a strange dystopian world of derelict buildings at Caerwent MOD training area. This huge site contains abandoned factories and has been used in the filming of productions such as Dr Who and Captain America.

The events allowed many of our middle ranking and senior cadets to take on leadership roles, whether that was running the 'operations room' or attempting to 'snatch' members of the opposing side. The event completed the next day with lots of shooting and a chance to talk to the soldiers of 1st Battalion The Rifles (our Army sponsor regiment) and try out some of their equipment. The photo shows the CCF in front of one of their Foxhound vehicles, a snip at £600,000 each.
