CCF cadets sleep rough for charity

Some twenty CCF cadets slept rough last Saturday night in aid of the Great Tommy Sleepout, a national charity aimed at providing support for homeless ex service men and women.
During March, thousands of cadets nationally volunteer to spend a night out, whether that be in gardens or wild areas, but the idea being that one night in a tent, bivi bag, or under a cardboard box creates an awareness that unfortunately the problem of homelessness amongst former service personnel is a significant one.
The cadets slept on the ground around the CCF area in bivi bags and to add some incentive the pupils had a short social in the CCF first, but most importantly they have already raised over £1600 for the charity and we hope to exceed our target of £2000
The night was cold and clear, and we hope that the experience gave all those that took part some awareness of the plight of homeless people generally, but with a particular focus on homeless veterans.
