After weeks of preparing, months of planning and five years after the last one, Shrewsbury School completed the Whole School Sponsored Walk.

Over 1,000 pupils and staff took part in the 19 mile walk across the Long Mynd and Stiperstones on a sunny September day, allowing walkers to see Shropshire in all its glory.

The day was full of laughs and smiles as pupils completed the 30km walk from Plowden to Pontesbury, where they enjoyed a well-deserved ice cream at the finish line.

The Sponsored Walk has been raising money for our youth club in Everton, The Shewsy, which was founded by school masters in 1903, for the past 50 years. This year, a group of walkers from The Shewsy joined in with the trek and got to see the effort put in to ensure we raise plenty of money for the youth club.

Head of Partnership and Community Engagement, Stuart Cowper, said: "I'd like to convey a huge thank you to all who have so generously sponsored the participants - pupils and staff.  We had a wonderful day in the Shropshire Hills, accompanied by friends from Everton.  Every step walked, every pound raised will help maintain and enhance the work done at The Shewsy."

So far, the total fundraising is up to an amazing £63,000! Our target is to reach £100,000 for The Shewsy and there is still plenty of time to donate follow our Sponsored Walk page, with any money greatly appreciated.

Look out for next week’s newsletter for a full video round up of the Sponsored Walk, but for now here are just a few of the many pictures of staff and pupils enjoying the day.

Well done to all who took part!
