Congratulations to Becky H (MSH, V), who has been shortlisted in the Junior Category of the internationally recognised John Locke Institute 2025 Global Essay Prize.

This prestigious competition attracts thousands of entries from around the world and is renowned for encouraging young people to engage with big ideas in philosophy, politics, economics, history, and psychology.

In her essay, she explored the neurobiology of aging and its influence on monotony, while also challenging the unfair societal expectations and stereotypes placed on older adults.

Reflecting on her success, Becky said:

“I’m honoured to be shortlisted for the John Locke Essay Prize. I believe it is a great opportunity, and I’m grateful for the recognition.”

This remarkable achievement is a testament not only to Becky’s exceptional writing ability but also to her dedication to her studies and her willingness to engage with challenging and original ideas.

The John Locke Institute Essay Prize is designed to inspire young thinkers, encouraging clarity of thought, depth of analysis, and independence of mind.

We warmly congratulate Becky on her success and look forward to following her continued academic journey.
