India and I were extremely fortunate to visit the Houses of Parliament, at the kind invitation of the High Sheriff of Shropshire Jane Trowbridge, alongside six other students from schools across Shropshire, with Labour MP for Shrewsbury Julia Buckley.

We toured the House of Lords and Westminster Hall before enjoying a delicious lunch in the Strangers’ Dining Room. From filibustering to how votes are conducted, Julia was very insightful, and hearing about her ideas was fascinating.

The day ended with us watching a debate on energy security in the Public gallery, where we observed parliamentary proceedings - we found this to be particularly inspiring. A massive thank you to Jane and Julia, who gave up time out of their busy schedule and were such great company!
