We were delighted to hear that last year's Head of School Ryan Mupesa (S, 2019-23) has been awarded the prestigious Lord Kitchener Scholarship.

The memorial fund is designed to support those either serving themselves or with parents in the armed forces at university. Competition is fierce, with only 25 awards being made nationally each year; applicants are selected on academic achievement and potential, as well as their other interests and activities.

Ryan said: "After submitting my application, I was interviewed by members of the Lord Kitchener National Memorial Fund board on my knowledge of the man himself, current affairs and my ambitions.  It is a privilege to be awarded the scholarship and I am looking forward to joining the Lord Kitchener Association, whose members include former generals and eminent politicians."

Toby Percival, Head of Higher Education and Ryan's tutor, added: "All at the school are thrilled that Ryan has been recognised externally for the skills and qualities that we saw in him whilst at school.  With a large number of armed forces families in the Salopian community, we are always keen to highlight such resources and opportunities."
