Nine pupils competed at the 2023 British Rowing Indoor Championships over the first weekend of the holiday.

The British Rowing Indoor Championships (BRIC) were held at the NEC in Birmingham in conjunction with FitFest 2023, a competitive fitness festival hosting over 5,000 athletes. Almost 1,500 competitors took part in BRIC’s 50 races, competing for the national title in person for the first time since 2019. All of the pupils that raced put in a strong performance to achieve a top ten finish in their age group.

Richard W (I, V) produced a phenomenal row to win gold and the Year 11 boys national title in his event.

In the Sixth Form Boys five-hundred-meter event, Jeremy G (O, UVI) put in a very strong performance to take bronze.

In the Junior Boys team event: Matthew L (O, UVI) Max W (R, LVI), Richard W (I, V) and Jeremy G (O, UVI) showed great teamwork and impressive power to lead their race from the first stroke to the last to win Gold in a field of 25 participating teams.

Year 9 Boys 500m: 9th - James D (SH, III)

Year 9 Girls 500m: 6th - Fran T (M, III)

Year 10 Boys 500m: 8th - Con W (Ch, IV) 

Year 10 Girls 5min: 5th and 6th- Violet H (M, IV), Katie W (QE, IV) 

Year 10 Girls 500m: 4th and 7th - Katie W (QE, IV), Violet H (M, IV)

Year 11 Boys 6min: Gold - Richard W (I, V)

Sixth Form Boys 500m: Bronze - Jeremy G (O, UVI)

Junior Boys Team event: Gold - Matt L (O, UVI), Max W (R, LVI), Jeremy G (O, UVI) and Richard W (I, V)
