Major Rob Treasure (I 2009-14) will assist in managing Queen Camilla's daily schedule of official engagements and will accompany her on most public duties and overseas visits.

The Queen announced the news during a speech ahead of an awards dinner celebrating The Rifles, of which she is Colonel-in-Chief. He will be her second equerry following in the footsteps of Major Ollie Plunket.

Earlier this year Rob made history when he rowed across the Atlantic alongside fellow Old Salopian Captain Rob Cross (S 2008-13) and another friend from Sandhurst Charlie Newman. They became the first serving military trio to row across any ocean by completing the gruelling 3,000 mile race known as 'The World's Toughest Row'.

Rob undertook the challenge in memory of his father, who died from cancer in 2021, and the team planned to raise at least £200,000 in sponsorship for charities including Macmillan Cancer Support.
