The Adventure Society were pleased to welcome Dr Adam Booth, Old Salopian, former Adventure Society member and accomplished mountaineer, back to the School on Thursday afternoon to give this year’s Adventure Society Christmas Lecture.

Adam shared with the current Society members how his adventure experiences here at Shrewsbury School, and the stories of the mountaineering achievements of other Old Salopians such as Sandy Irving and Charles Evans, inspired him to take on some of the world’s most notable mountaineering challenges, including climbing Mount Everest and El Capitan.

Adam also talked about how he has combined his passion for adventure with his skills as a doctor, supporting expeditions as the designated medic.

This lecture showed students where the skills they are learning through the Adventure Society and the experiences we offer can take them. They also gained an insight into how they can combine their passion for adventure with a career.
