The Shrewsbury Regatta returned to our home stretch of the River Severn, with 56 school crews racing across the two days.

Larger boats took to the water on Saturday, while Sunday featured an impressive flotilla of small boats from across the age groups.

With the senior lead boats competing at Nottingham, the depth of the club was on full display at home. The 3rd VIII secured victories in both the Open Eights and J18 Coxed Fours, while the 4th VIII claimed the J16 Coxed Four title. The J15 boys’ and girls’ fours each won their respective events, and Theo E (O, UVI) delivered a standout performance to win the J18 Singles.

Sunday brought further success, with fifteen wins recorded across the programme. A particular highlight was the Mixed Eights event, which featured eight crew, including one from the school. The Shrewsbury mixed crew, made up of six girls and three boys from the Fifth and Sixth Form, came together superbly. Their cohesion and determination carried them through three rounds of racing to take the overall win, along with the delight of sharing the prize money.

The regatta also coincided with a Sabrina Club reunion and BBQ, creating a vibrant atmosphere along the riverbank. It was a pleasure to welcome back so many alumni—several of whom even returned to racing. Sabrina crews added to the success of the weekend with wins in the Open Eights and Coxed Fours.
